Cape Coral is located in southwest Florida directly on the Gulf of Mexico. The city was founded in the 50s and is rightly called the Venice of America. On Mac Gregor Boulevard in Fort Myers you can visit the winter home of the American inventor Edison, fully furnished as it was during his lifetime, including a laboratory and botanical garden. Spectacular water, light and music shows (indoor and outdoor) attract visitors to Waltzing Waters, south of Fort Myers. Homosassa Springs Nature World near the Gulf of Mexico offers visitors the opportunity to get an up-close look at 10,000 fish and marine mammals below sea level.
